OUR STORY
We are the Aziaka family from the suburbs of Chicago. Peter is originally from Togo in West Africa. We all went there as a family with my Mom, in July of 2018. We wanted our son to see where he's from and experience the culture. We had always had a dream to do something back in Peter's home country to help the children of the area where he grew up.
In preparing to return to Togo, we thought of our love of baseball. How it unites a community, the comradery among the players and the character it builds. We have been Little League baseball coaches for the past several years, since our son started tee ball. So, with the help of our local baseball families, equipment started pouring in, gloves, bats, cleats, catchers gear, etc. We took it over to Togo and started playing baseball in a school yard. It wasn't long and the children standing near wanted to try to swing the bat. And it took off from there. The joy on their faces when they hit a home run is so pure.
Togo Mission Baseball was born. We have a headquarters building that provides tutoring and mentoring for the students. We know that education and knowledge and equip future generations for better opportunities. Our goal is to support children in Lome, Togo, with education and athletics to encourage and empower them for success.
